Gunn Escarpment
Event type
Line courses - checkpoints are to be visited in the order shown by the connecting lines on the map.
Sunday, 28 April 2024
Come join us for Sunday morning foot orienteering courses at Gunn in Palmerston. All welcome. The orienteering courses cater for a range of abilities, including newcomers. Three line courses are offered: Easy, moderate, hard. The courses traverse streets, reserves and bushland areas in and around the Gunn Escarpment, including Sanctuary Lakes Park. The easy course is child and pram friendly. As usual for orienteering, expect actual distances to be 20-50% longer, and remember that your walking/running pace is slower when orienteering.
This event uses the MapRun app for calculating elapsed times - participants will carry their mobile phone with the MapRun app installed, as well as carrying a 'punch' card to manually record checkpoint visitation.
Compass may be useful on the Moderate and Hard course but is not essential.
Please note there are no Public Toilets at the start - the closest are 1km east at Sanctuary Lakes (on Lakeview Blvd)
