Come down and try out your skill at mountain bike orienteering along the beautiful tracks in Casuarina Coastal Reserve. There are courses for all riding and navigation abilities. Start location will be at Royal Darwin Hospital.

Courses on offer:

Easy: Approximately 6 km, 1 hour

This course is great for beginners and includes the two beautiful mangrove tracks crossing Sandy Creek. Terrain includes gravel tracks, grassy areas, and a section along the coastal dunes. The course is quite flat and is accessible for all abilities.

Moderate: Approximately 9.5 km, 1.5 hours

This course is great fun for people with some mountain biking skills. The course takes in the coastal path to Lee Point as well as the Seaview, Enfield and Lee tracks (green). It then traverses the plateau area (planned for subdivision) and follows a major gully before finishing. There are a few challenging sections which you may have to hop off your bike for if you are not very confident or only have a basic bike.

Hard: Approximately 13 km, 1.5 hours

This course requires at least moderate mountain biking skills. It takes in the beautiful Blair Witch track (I didn’t find Josh) then the Monsoon, Bren and World Cup tracks (blue). You go all the way out to Lee Point for a drink before heading back via the plateau area (planned for subdivision) and the major gully to the finish. Sunglasses or equivalent are required because there is lots of vegetation which can poke you in the eye. I have a 1999 vintage Giant bike with no suspension and few skills and managed the course – I just had to carry my bike over/down a few sections!
