Orienteering in Litchfield is generally technically challenging, with few tracks, but many watercourses, rocks, vegetation changes and all sorts of contour shapes! Various activities and exercises are available to help hone your skills for the event the next day. Practice your bearings, reading contours, aiming off and finding point features. Courses traverse grassy woodland around the Buley area, with rocks, slopes, wildflowers and wet areas. Expect wet feet.
Time
Start between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm
Finish by 7:00 pm
BYO
Compass, water bottle with water, sturdy shoes, clothes comfortable for exercising in the bush.
Coaching
Coaching is available between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm
Afterwards
Cool off in the water of Buley Rockhole. Book/organise accommodation nearby for Saturday night, so you are close to Sunday's orienteering event above Florence Falls.
